“Banks West Of The Hebrides acts as a portal from this place to another; in this case, the seas to the West of the Isles of Lewis and Harris, a stretch of ocean that includes Hirta (St Kilda) and the Flannan Isles
Across hundreds of fragments of slow-moving texts, film and audio, the essence of the waters and the spirits thought to live there are brought to life. The complete record of the text fragments is also presented online in it's entirety”
287 text and image fragments move across the screen of an e-reader affixed to a sea chart, whilst a tripod-mounted film fills the gallery with light and sound.
Performed as a reading of some of the fragments accompanied by the gaelic singing of Morag and Alastair Law.
